De who? Andrés DeRosales

Hello my name is Andrés DeRosales and I am a San Francisco native whose grandparents migrated from Nicaragua. As a SF native, I grew up a huge Giants fan. So when the Giants won their first of three in five years World Series championships on my birthday, I was a little excited. After high school, I joined the United States Air Force as a firefighter. This decision sent me on the path to becoming a history teacher. I ending up with obtaining a Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Arts in History. I have been teaching in private schools for seven years. Currently, I am wrapping up the last quarter of teaching freshmen Early World History at a charter high school in San Francisco.

I was called in to the teaching profession by my passion for history and understanding the threads from that past that are seamed together to create our contemporary paradigm. Being driven by my Nicaraguan heritage, I thrive to uncover the missing voices from the historical record. In collaborating with my students I aim to problematize the past so that we can put forth solutions utilizing historical thinking skills. Being a teaching is my vocation and has provided me with my ultimate happiness, my wife. We met when we both started teaching at private high school that she is currently teaching at.
